The Observational Method (OM) is based on the idea that a basic design, which takes into account several technical alternatives, can be adapted and optimized according to the ground response measured on site during construction. To date, this approach has been used in construction projects in a reactive fashion when ground behavior is different than expected, and rarely in a proactive fashion to propose leaner and safer designs.
SAALG Geomechanics and Tunnel & Bridge Technologies, two specialist leaders on #geotechnicalengineering back-analysis and structural engineering, have partnered to provide the construction industry with the possibility to effectively implement the OM in #civilengineering and building projects. This way, all the stakeholders will benefit from leaner and economic design options, shorter construction periods and safer construction sites; making of construction a more efficient, more sustainable and safer industry.
This solution is based on #Daarwin, developed by SAALG, that will allow to analyse different design options and geotechnical scenarios at the design stage, as well as combining sophisticated numerical models with ground monitoring to predict the real soil behavior during construction.
